I think were more or less in agreement, Hap, on the goal, thguoh perhaps not the character of past regs. Certainly the assault-weapons ban was partly political theater, but it did have some impact, and was backed by plenty of police unions and chiefs of big-city police depts. Some weapons have no purpose other than aggression, and were not remotely conceived of by our Founding Fathers. I fully support an originalist interpretation that gives you the right to keep and bear a flintlock musket, but unless you believe in a right to nukes, sarin nerve gas, and high-explosives, were not arguing over that principle, just over where to draw the line. The assault weapons ban couldve used some refinement and strengthening, but was a good start.
